Creating Value from Oil Sands Tailings
CVW CleanTech has developed a suite of technologies that have the potential to change the environmental performance of the oil sands mining industry while supporting the creation of a new critical minerals industry.
Technology Presentation
These innovative technologies (CVW™) will efficiently recover nearly all hydrocarbons from froth treatment tailings (FTT) leaving them cleaner than current froth treatment processes. This results in significant fugitive methane emissions avoidances from tailings ponds, allows for the effective recovery of critical minerals (leading to the creation of a new critical minerals industry) and provides more effective tailings management consistent with Alberta Energy Regulator’s Directive 85.
CVW™ Process at a Glance
The Company’s CVW™ technologies intercept oil sands froth treatment tailings and recover valuable commodities such as bitumen, solvents and valuable critical minerals while reducing GHG emissions, VOC emissions, tailings volume and other environmental impacts.

CONCENTRATOR PLANT
The Concentrator Plant will recover hydrocarbons and water while concentrating the valuable critical minerals from this tailing stream.

MINERAL SEPARATION PLANT
Critical mineral concentrate will be separated out in the Mineral Separation Plant into final mineral products, zircon sand concentrate and high-grade TiO2 ilmenite.
